My name is Des’ree Guthrie , I am a Certified PRSS/Supervisor as well as the Program Coordinator for WVCORR. I am a person in long term recovery and have been employed for HCPI/WVCORR for (4) years, our mission statement is “Together We Recover” and I stand behind that, it was because of another Peer that I had an encounter with early into my recovery that continued showing up for me. Some days it was just to have a cup of coffee or to go for a walk, I didn’t have it all figured out but with her there to support me I figured out what my purpose was and how I was going to create the meaningful life that I wanted but had no idea what that looked like. One of my favorite quotes is; “this too shall pass” because nothing is forever, and we all have the option to figure out what it is that we want, not what our addiction tells us. My hope is to make connections between peers and collaborate with other entities to see how we can best serve those that are seeking support in their recovery.
